The above map shows Project Connect intends to build out East Austin Rail in stages. Interestingly, the areas in East Austin with the highest traffic needs will be phased in last. (2024)
When the Statesman approached Project Connect about the oddness of these phases, Project Connect back-pedaled and said the timeline was not set in stone. A rather odd statement considering that after much 'study' and 'public input', the East Austin Rail plan chosen by Project Connect just happened to follow the Mayor's proposed East Austin Rail plan from 2008.
A plan that, incidentally, Project Connect also claimed was not set in stone when they started their 'public input process' last year.
