House and Senate Districts of
Southern Travis County
Along with Coffee Party Austin (another nonprofit, nonpartisan political organizations that works to inform and engage voters through education and advocacy), the Austin League is co-hosting a Q & A candidates forum for state legislative races, focusing on districts that cover southern Travis County.
Date - Saturday, October 13
Location - Faith Presbyterian Church
Address - 1314 East Oltorf St. (just off of I 35), Austin
Meet and Greet - 2:00 pm
Q and A for all candidates - 2:30 pm
Expected end - 4:30 pm
The purpose of the forum is to educate the public about issues, allow face-to-face comparisons of the candidates and their positions, and stimulate and increase voter interest and participation in the election. Invitees are:
Senate District 21:
Judith Zaffirini (D), Joseph Morse (L) and Grant Rostig (R)
Senate District 25:
Donna Campbell (R) & John Courage (D)
House District 47:
Paul Workman (R), Chris Frandsen (D), & Nick Tanner (L)
House District 48:
Donna Howard (D), Joe Edgar (L) & Robert Thomas (R)
House District 51:
Eddie Rodriguez (D) and Arthur DiBianca (L)
To maximize voter interest, this forum will have both Senate and House candidates on stage at the same time. We plan to ask 4 questions written by the hosts and 4 questions submitted in writing by the audience. Voters are encouraged to attend.
