(warning - editorial opinion) In an ongoing effort to show just how little City Staff and Opticos care about the wildfire threat in Central Texas, there will be yet another Green Infrastructure meeting held as far away from Northwest Austin as possible:
"Green Infrastructure working group to discuss nature integration The subject of the next Green Infrastructure Working Group will be how to integrate nature into Austin.
The meeting will take place from 1 pm to 4 pm, March 13 at the Twin Oaks Library (1800 S. 5th Street). At 12:45 pm, there will be a tour of the library's green stormwater infrastructure.
Track the working group's progress online.
Coordinated by the Watershed Protection Department, the Green Infrastructure Working Group examines how the land development code can encourage the broader vision of green infrastructure established by Imagine Austin. Their efforts will also continue to build upon topics such as green stormwater infrastructure and beneficial use of stormwater."
Note that there is still no talk about wildfire.
One wonders how many changes to the the Land Development Code will be necessary to fix the enormous missed opportunity for CodeNext to use Green Infrastructure and other meetings to create, or even discuss, a wildfire overlay.
