"City Council just made its biggest investment in affordable housing this year," exclaimed Council Member Gregorio Casar (District 4) on his Facebook page. "We approved three new homestead preservation districts (one of which is in North Austin), as well as a funding mechanism to dedicate revenue for affordable housing construction and rehabilitation in rapidly-gentrifying areas as well as high-opportunity areas around town.
