Is Austin Killing You? Affordability starts with Accountability Millions handed to companies like Apple, millions more waived in fees to help out developers and landlords, and yet the jobs don't go to locals, and rent continues to skyrocket. Millions spent for plans and studies and bonds, millions more spent on infrastructure for special interests like COTA and downtown 'needs', and yet, traffic's insane, and there's never money for sidewalks, bus stops, or pedestrian safety. Millions spent for Mercedes Benz vehicles and other luxuries, surpluses splurged on things like a new fleet, while seniors sell their homes because they can't afford the taxes, and musicians and artists can't pay their bills. Millions spent on Code and Zoning, millions more for low income housing, and yet thousands are on waiting lists for housing, and thousands more are crammed into shoddy, cheaply built apartments. Marc Ott, Our City Manager, has a history of incompetent and questionable leadership, but is the third best paid in Texas, gets $50,000 in extra perks, and doesn't seem accountable to anybody. Petitioning The Honorable Richard L. Durbin, Jr. US Attorney for the Western District On behalf of the citizens of the Coalition for Shared Governance, we hereby formally request your review and appropriate action into the questionable and possible improper use of Federal Funds by officials of City of Austin Petition Link Documentation
