700 Lavaca St, Austin, Texas 78701
Thanks to all who came on such short notice June 2nd to urge Travis County Commissioners to protest unusually low commercial property tax appraisals, which are shifting an unfair burden onto homeowners. Travis County Commissioners are considering whether to challenge the 2014 commercial property appraisals.
County Judge, Sam Biscoe has scheduled a vote on this issue THIS Tuesday, June 10th, ( tomorrow) at 10:15am. The meeting is at 700 Lavaca in the first floor meeting room. Please carpool if possible as there is limited parking.
Your signs sent a loud message that we homeowners are paying our fair share while large commercial property owners are manipulating the property tax system. While we pay our part, these large commercial property owners pay an average of 60% of the actual values of their buildings.
As homeowners and Austinites, we need to unite to have the County Commissioners hear our concerns. These large commercial property owners need to pay their part on the actual value of their buildings. Please come if you can and help spread the word to Facebook, neighborhood listserves, etc.
They need to hear from us. It makes a difference when people show up!
