We can get $37 Million dollars for North Lamar and Burnet, but we need to send letters by June 3rd!
The City needs letters of support from citizens to show that the community wants a Tiger Grant for our streets.
Here is the link for the template.
The website is having some issue with the link tonight. Please email us if it doesnt work)

In the 2012 Bond, City of Austin voters approved $15 million for the North Lamar Boulevard and Burnet Road Corridor Improvements CIP project. The City of Austin, in conjunction with CapMetro, would like to inform you of an exciting opportunity to leverage $10 million from the CIP project in a request to match that funding with a TIGER Grant from the US Department of Transportation. The overall project cost, including improvements by both the City of Austin and CapMetro, is almost $37 million, with the City providing $10 million, CapMetro providing $5.1 million, and requesting a $21.794 million federal match.
Please see the attached document, TIGER 2015 Pre Application Information_Final.doc, for more specifics on the proposed project.
The document named N_Lamar_Burnet_Rd_CIP_2015_TIGER_Grant_RCA.doc provides detailed information about the City’s portion of the project, provided to City Council Members on May 21st.
The final document, Letter_of_Support_template_TIGER_Grant_2015.doc, is a draft letter of support.
The City of Austin and CapMetro encourage you to submit your letter of support for this project, to show the community engagement and support in order to make the project more competitive in the selection process.
If you are interested in submitting a letter of support, please send your signed letter to:
Laura Dierenfield: firstname.lastname@example.org
and I: email@example.com
no later than 12pm, noon, Wednesday, June 3rd.
We will be submitting the application with CapMetro on Thursday, June 4th.
Laura and I are the City’s co-leads for the TIGER Grant application, and can also address any questions you might have. We apologize for the short-turn around on the letter of support, but greatly appreciate you taking the time to submit one!
