Today, we received calls and e-mails reporting Project Connect canvassers on Avenue C and Avenue B in Hyde Park. They are distributing a map erroneously titled "Proposed First Line of Urban Rail". That map includes urban rail on Guadalupe-North Lamar up to Crestview. (map is below)
Don't be fooled, Guadalupe-North Lamar is NOT in Project Connect's current urban rail recommendation. Hyde Park residents have characterized the canvassers as "persuasive" in their presentation of the Project Connect vision. Please contact me off-list if you have encountered any of these block walkers in your community. Project Connect is a taxpayer-funded, joint agency program of the City of Austin, Capital Metro, and Lone Star Rail.
Communities along Guadalupe and North Lamar have long supported building urban rail there. It was codified in 3 large combined neighborhood planning ordinances from 183 to MLK over the last 12 years and has garnered an outpouring of community support just in the last year.
