The Texas Intensive English Program (TIEP) is seeking homestay hosts for a special group this summer. Hosts are needed for a weekend homestay for Japanese high school students from July 27 to 29.
The students in the program are 15-16 years old and are completing a special culture and language course at TIEP. Hosts would to pick the students up from TIEP on Friday, July 27, around 5 p.m., and drop the students back off at their dorm near UT on Sunday afternoon. The goal of the weekend homestay is for students to experience American life with a family and practice their English conversation skills. Hosts should plan some activities for the students over the weekend that gives them a taste of Austin or Texas culture. There is a $100 stipend per student hosted for this program to help cover the cost of transportation and food for the weekend. Hosts can accommodate one or multiple students, but each student should have his or her own bed.
If you are interested in this cultural opportunity, please contact Meghan Merchant at 512-477-4511 or e-mail Meghan@tiec.org. This is a great way to connect with the international community in Austin!
TIEP is located at 1103 W. 24th St. For more information about our program, please visit http://www.tiec.org/tiep.
